This course is a one-day blended course that consists of both classroom and practical application. The course content and application are focused more to the experienced operators.
Intended for
Students requiring basic knowledge and practical skills, or operators demonstrating their knowledge and skill assessment to obtain new or skilled certification. Students will be provided the opportunity to practice their skills and obtain answers for any questions or uncertainties prior to taking a theory exam. Any additional practical time required can be booked for additional practice to ensure skillset. The employer will be required to deem the operator competent and knowledgeable regarding legislation, policies and standards.
Upon Completion
Operators will successfully complete an exam with a grade of 80% for theory and demonstrate knowledge and skillset for practical exam. A wallet card certificate, a wall certificate and student handbook. Certification will be valid for 3 years. Employers will be responsible for deeming workers competent.
Course Content
- Introduction
- Course material in relation to OH&S Legislation, CSA standards
- Pre-Operation Inspection – all components as per manufacturer’s manual
- Refueling – Propane, Gas and Diesel
- Safe Operating Procedures
- Load Handling – Loading and Unloading, Stacking and Racking, Traveling, Ramps and Inclines
- Hazards related to load handling and operation of unit, and controls
- Identifying Stability factors
Operator skill assessment for routine tasks will be required.
Please bring steel toe footwear to participate in the practical operation!
Students must be on time and present for all course content instruction. Students who miss any course content cannot be certified and registration fees will not be reimbursed, as per the Cancellation Policy
